Effortless Photography and Videography
This ultra-wide-angle F1.4 prime lens adds creativity and vibrancy to every moment, offering outstanding image quality in a compact, lightweight form.
The SIGMA 12mm F1.4 DC | Contemporary is an ultra-wide-angle prime lens that provides the widest angle of view (12mm) among all F1.4 lenses for APS-C cameras¹. Thanks to its advanced optical design, the lens delivers high-resolution images and captures expansive night skies and landscapes with sharp detail, even at maximum aperture.
Despite its high performance, the lens remains compact and lightweight, making it ideal for on-the-go APS-C mirrorless users. This powerful blend of portability and quality unlocks new creative possibilities for both photography and video—from travel and street photography to wide scenic shots.
¹¹ Autofocus-compatible interchangeable lens for APS-C cameras, according to SIGMA (June 2025).

Key Features
Remarkable Image Quality with Ultra-Wide Angle & F1.4 Aperture
The first F1.4 lens in the world with a 12mm focal length for APS-C cameras¹ (approx. 18mm full-frame equivalent²). Its ultra-wide field of view effortlessly captures expansive scenes, while the bright F1.4 aperture delivers exceptional low-light and night performance. Ideal for low-light street photography, group selfies, or vlogging, this lens offers creative freedom for both photo and video.
¹ As of August 2025, according to SIGMA.
² Equivalent focal length for Canon RF mount is approximately 19mm.
Edge to Edge Performance
Three double-sided aspherical elements and two SLD elements deliver sharpness across the entire image. Sagittal coma flare is thoroughly corrected—essential for night scenes requiring edge-to-edge clarity and pinpoint star rendering.
Compact and Lightweight for Mobility
Thanks to the smart placement of aspherical elements, the lens remains compact at just 69.4 mm in length and weighs only 225g¹. Ideal for handheld use, travel, street photography, or mounting on gimbals. Now, creators can experience the expressive power of a 12mm F1.4 lens—without compromise.
¹ Weight specified for the Sony E-mount version
Engineered for Both Stills and Video
Smooth and Accurate Autofocus with Stepping Motor
The lightweight focus group is driven by a stepping motor for fast and silent autofocus—perfect for both stills and video. The lens ensures accurate focusing even for moving subjects or spontaneous shots.
Minimal Focus Breathing
Focus breathing is kept to a minimum, enabling natural, seamless focus pulls during filming.
Aperture Ring with Extended Controls
The lens features an intuitive aperture ring. On the Canon RF version, this is replaced with a configurable control ring for additional functionality.
Reduced Flare and Ghosting
Advanced simulations and coatings are used to suppress flare and ghosting, resulting in rich, high-contrast images—even in challenging lighting or backlit scenes.
Weather-Resistant Build & Protective Coating
The lens is constructed with dust- and splash-resistant sealing¹ and features a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element—ideal for shooting in demanding environments.
¹ Not waterproof . Avoid direct exposure to large amounts of water.
Expanding the APS-C F1.4 Prime Lineup
With the addition of the 12mm F1.4, SIGMA’s Contemporary line now includes a full range of compact, high-performance F1.4 primes for APS-C mirrorless cameras: 12mm, 16mm, 23mm, 30mm, and 56mm. Perfect for creators who demand both portability and image quality.
