Sigma Introduces the Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG II | Art
The ultimate 35mm F1.4 in Sigma’s history
With the Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG II | Art, Sigma launches a fast wide-angle lens for full-frame cameras that combines exceptional image quality with a surprisingly compact and lightweight design.

As the successor to the iconic 35mm F1.4 — the lens that laid the foundation for the acclaimed Sigma Art line in 2012 — this new model elevates optical performance to a new level. The Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG II | Art will be available on Thursday, April 16, 2026, for both the L-mount and Sony E-mount systems.
Highlights
• Unprecedented optical performance
• Compact and lightweight, without compromise
• Ideal for both photography and video
• Top-class image quality, better than ever
• Razor-sharp from corner to corner, even wide open
Thanks to Sigma’s latest optical technology, the completely redesigned construction of 15 elements in 12 groups delivers exceptionally detailed images that far surpass previous generations. New, advanced glass types are combined with four highly precise aspherical elements and two SLD elements. This effectively suppresses optical aberrations, particularly axial chromatic aberration, which often occurs in fast lenses.
The result: impressive sharpness across the entire image area, even at F1.4.
Beautiful, natural bokeh without color fringing
By precisely correcting chromatic aberrations, out-of-focus areas remain free of color fringing. This produces a soft, natural background blur. The rounded 11-blade diaphragm maintains its circular shape even when stopped down, while the extremely precise finishing of the aspherical elements ensures smooth, perfectly round bokeh.
New AAC coating for maximum clarity
The newly developed AAC (Advanced Amorphous Coating) incorporates an amorphous layer with a very low refractive index. This drastically reduces reflections — and therefore ghosting and flare. The result is exceptionally clear images with high contrast.
Compact and lightweight, without concessions
Powerful performance in a surprisingly compact design
Thanks to a floating focus system, this lens offers both improved optical performance and a more compact design. Compared with the previous model, the Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG DN | Art, the new version is approximately 14% shorter and 20% lighter. Clever mechanical solutions down to the smallest details make the lens extremely compact — ideal for photographers who want maximum freedom of movement.
Ultra-fast, silent autofocus
The lens uses Sigma’s dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) system, which drives even the large and heavy focusing group with high speed and precision. The result is fast, accurate, and virtually silent autofocus for both stills and video — perfect for effortlessly capturing decisive moments.
Designed for comfort in both photo and video
Durable tool for creative expression
The combination of high-quality materials such as aluminum and TSC¹ provides the robustness and build quality expected from the Art line without making the lens heavy. The result is a reliable tool you can depend on for years.
¹ TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) is a polycarbonate with thermal expansion similar to aluminum, ensuring a strong and durable construction in combination with metal components.
Convenient features for every shot
The lens features two programmable AFL buttons, to which various functions can be assigned via compatible cameras. It also includes an aperture ring, an aperture ring lock switch¹, and a switch to enable or disable click stops.
¹ In position A, the ring is locked at A. In other positions, the ring is locked within the aperture range and cannot be rotated to A.
Minimal focus breathing
Optimized placement of the focusing group and the aspherical design significantly reduce focus breathing. The angle of view changes only minimally during focusing, resulting in natural focus transitions in video.
Resistant to dust, splashes, and dirt
The construction is dust- and splash-resistant¹, and the front element features a water- and oil-repellent coating. This allows you to rely on the lens even in challenging outdoor conditions.
¹ The lens is not waterproof. Avoid contact with large amounts of water to prevent damage.
Locking lens hood
The included petal-shaped lens hood protects against stray light and reduces unwanted flare. Thanks to the locking mechanism, the hood stays securely in place.
